Daily Doodle: Day 53
Daily Doodle: Day 52
Doing the Obvious
Something that’s always bothered me about the superhero genre in comic books is how no one seems to do the obvious when dealing with a hero or villain. Here’s a little comic I doodled in a coffee shop a while back.
Daily Doodle: Day 50
I was on the fence about the colors for Day 50 until about 10 minutes ago when I thought to my self, “you know what about if I try this?”
This piece is so much closer to the look I’m going for.
Daily Doodle: Day 49
This is another style of illustration I’ve been playing with a lot lately. It’s based on Day 28, I’m also calling these posts “Daily Doodle” now since this has become more of an illustration blog and less of a Graphic Design blog.
Daily Design: Day 48
Here’s the other idea I’ve been working on for the past week. I’m calling it The Grubbies and it’s based on a short story I drew a few years ago. It’s about a discarded little cigarette butt named Ciggy who bands togetherwith some other discarded bits of trash to reach the garbage paradise: Coney Island.
Weather this is going to be a comic for print or for the web, I don’t know yet. I’m not crazy about web comics, in my opinion half of the charm is actually holding the comic book in your hands and flipping through the pages. But as I’ve been learning, printing comics are a pretty big pain in the ass.
Daily Doodles…fail?
I’m officially declaring the Daily Doodle challenge a fail…sort of. I made it to day 44 before there were some significant gaps in my daily doodle challenge. It wasn’t that last weekend when I was working to finish my last mini comic The Last Ice Cream Sandwich that I missed a few doodles. Then the Long Beach Comic Con came around and well… you know, comics books. Which brings me to why I haven’t been posting any doodles for the last few days; my next comic book project! I am so excited about this next mini comic, I’ve spent almost all of my free time working on it. I’m working with THE most talented New York based writer I have ever met and what makes this project so great is that we’re artistically on the same page.
In the next week or so I’ll be posting some sketches I’ve done for it. So in a sense I’ve actually been drawing more than ever, I just haven’t been posting them on my website. But by no means have I given up on this website! As a matter of fact, now that I have a flow with the comic book I’m working on, I’m going to be doubling my effort to keep up! After barely two months of starting this project, it has lead me to so many opportunities artistically. I’ve met a lot of great people and done some really cool things and that’s after doing only 44 simple doodles. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen after 100 doodles!

Daily Doodle: Day 54
This is a drawing based on an image I found on ffffound.com and isn’t a style I’m specifically going for. I’ve been feeling kind of stiff lately on the comic I’ve been working on so I drew this to help me loosen up a little.
